Best sewing machine for scrapbooking

I am looking to get a sewing machine to stitch on scrapbook pages. I have heard great things about the Janome sew mini, and I am considering purchasing one. However, I would like to see if there are others I should look into. I am looking for something reasonably priced, easy to use, space-efficient, and will handle sewing paper well.

I have the Janome Sew Mini and I love it for all of the reasons you mentioned. It is a perfect little machine that does a great job!!! If you want to see some things I've stitched on with it, you can peek in my gallery. Keep in mind that I am a beginner. This is my first sewing machine and I am just learning, so I'm not exactly perfect. I sew crooked from time to time, but the Janome is really easy to keep the paper straight on. I've just got to learn to turn the corners better. I do LOVE my Janome Sew Mini, though!!

HI there, I love to sew on my lo's!
I have the Pixie from Singer. DH gave it to me for Mother's Day last year.
I had a small problem with the foot pedal after a couple of months of use. Not sure as to what the problem was but, it didn't seem to want to connect. DH sent an email to Singer's cust. service to see if they had any suggestions as to what we could do to fix it and low and behold, 5 days later, I had a new pedal. No questions asked.

I've had no other problems since then.

DO NOT whatever you do get that mini sewing machine you can pick up for like $10 at the craft store. It is a complete waste of money.

I have a basic sewing machine that works fine on paper and fabric. I would say if you're mainly sewing on paper, forget all the bells and whistles and get something good and sturdy and not to finicky.

No kidding! That little ProvoCraft machine sucked a bit of my money when I first started scrapping and it went into the wastebasket shortly thereafter. Thought I mini would be handy on my table, but it is not that difficult to step over to my reg. sewing machine to stitch. I inherited a PINK Singer, probably from the 50s that has gears to get stitches! Of course I can't get anything besides straight and zig zag to work, but that is fine with me. It sews through chipboard layered with paper, 12 sheets of text weight paper (I stitched/bound a little calendar together once)

You will enjoy sewing on your projects - sometimes I wish I had two, one set up with brown and one with black top thread. Tip: I keep a bobbin with gray thread which I learned in quilting class pretty much disappears. This works well -the only time i need a bobbin change is if I am sewing on a mini or something in which both sides will be seen.

Any other suggestions? I just bought a Pixie from Singer as a Christmas gift to myself. I was so excited because it is small, relatively affordable and best yet, can do 8 different types of stitches. Unfortunately the foot pedal quit working after a couple of minutes of testing it out. I will be returning it this weekend and looking to replace it with something more durable. I also realize that you can't go wrong with a bigger machine, but I don't really have that much space, nor do I really want to shell out that much $$$. All feedback would be greatly appreciated!
