Topic Closed

    Hi all!!

I am going to start making cards, and I was just wondering where you got your envelopes?? Can you buy them in different sizes, or do you make the card to fit the envelopes??

    Hep me!!!!!

I use A2 envelopes. They fit cards of size 5.5"x4.25" (or a sheet of 8.5"x11" cardstock cut in half).

    Where do you get them?

there is a product called 'enveloper' used for this just google it.

Coluzzle also makes a template for envelopes and at Target I have seen templates for them in the scrap section

Some of my Cricut carts cut envelopes.
    ...so any size you need!

    Thanks,

Now I know what size envelopes to buy for card this size.

I usaully keep beige and white invitation size envelopes and beige and whie cardstock, because most of my cards that I make are invitation size (half a sheet of 8.5" x 11" folded in half.

Anna Griffin makes some very nice card and envelope templates. They are heavy mylar (clear flexible plastic) and they have directions printed on them, which makes them very easy to use. I've used them for years. The set includes these sizes:

A2, A6, A7, (Card, Envelope and envelope liner for each size)

3" and 5-1/2" square envelope, card and liner

    #10 Vertical (envelope and card)

Small Enclosure envelope and card (like a card you would receive on a bouquet of flowers)

5x7 Pocket Sleeve, card and gift tag/label

Gift Bag and gift tag & label

Butterfly sleeve, card and gift tag & label

Our Ben Franklin (which I envision to be like an AC Moore) sells packs of envelopes. Since virtually all my cardstock is 12x12 I buy the 6x6 envelopes. Our M's carries various sized envelopes as well, but not 6x6.

Given you make such beautiful LO's, I can imagine you would make some pretty spectacular cards. Whomever receives them will be very lucky!

I got all my envelopes from a local Halmark store. When they clean out the old stock of cards there are tons of envelopes left over. Ask the store if they would save them for you.

I had like 6 boxes full and donated a bunch to the local schools here.

That is a fantastic idea...never would have thought of it...thanks for sharing!

I buy my envelopes at Office Depot or the like. Since I just use plain white envelopes, I can buy 100 for like $3-4 in A2 size. It's a standard size so it's cheap-o.

You can get the invitation (A2) envelopes from just about any stationery store (Staples, etc). I also make 4x6 cards (I can get 3 4x6 cards from one 12x12 sheet of cardstock). I also have a Craft Robo, so I can cut just about any size envelope as many as I need.

I bought my A2 envelopes off the auction site. I got some insane amount like 250 so I'll never run out.

I've also heard that you can ask at any store that sells cards. Whenever they put out new cards they throw out the old ones and the envelopes. (I personally had to record each Mother's Day card that was being thrown out once and it KILLED me! I was just too afraid to ask my boss if I could have them...) I asked at another store once and was told to check back when they were changing for a new holiday.

I use a createalope template (I have 2 but there are LOTS and LOTS of different ones) from greensneakers- got 'em at J's many moons ago and haven't seen them there since. Google greensneakers and you can see what they've got- I LOVE them and will eventually have all that they make.

    I've been making cards using 8.5 x 11....not cutting them.....I found envelopes @ Walmart in the stationary/office supply section to fit them perfectly (size 5 3/4 x 8 3/4)....they were around $3 for a box of 50.
