Folk Art - What Is It?
Folk Art is a term the refers to the work of painters, sculptors and craft workers who have little or no training as artists. Folk artists are ordinary people who create their works for other ordinary people to use or enjoy rather than for museums or wealthy collectors. (World Book Encyclopedia)

Because these artists know little about the basic principles of art they may use color, light, and perspective inaccurately. They often don't know the beginning from the end with their projects; they just sit down and work. It is enjoyed by others because of its simple beauty. Most folk artists consider themselves as crafters rather than artists.

With regard to the craft of scrapbooking, folk art is a relatively easy means of decorating layouts to support the history that was captured in the photographs.
