In the Right Order
Submitted by: Peace
Author: Robert Byers
I was sitting in the kitchen
Several Friday nights ago
I had folded all the laundry
And the bathroom floor did glow

It was getting close to midnight
I had one thing left to do
When my husband took one look at me
And told me I was through

"But I cannot go to bed dear"
I replied to that tired man
"For I still must put the spices
Back in order on their stand."

Then he put his arms around me
And he led me out of there
I was looking, longing, backward
To the spice rack's disrepair

"Let me give a Bible lesson"
Was his final word to me
And he quoted then from memory
A verse quite dear to me

I Corinthians 14:40
Was the verse he used that night
And then to my surprise he said
I hadn't read it right

For it says that in our life and work
And as we go our way
Do things in their proper order
Not do it all each day

Well my spices are still jumbled
But my heart now happy sings
Since I found that what the Lord wants done
Are the real important things.
