Canyon Vistas
Submitted by: Mother Goose
Author: Ktdid
Narrow was the trail and the cliff quite sheer
A novice, rider, I saddled up to my fear.
Horse hoof so close to the edge of the trail,
I trembled at the sound of loose pebbles that fell.

A wise-cracking guide assured everything’s fine,
As he toyed with his reins, I held tight to mine.
Soon I relaxed somewhat and learned to accept,
That my horse knew where to place every step.

I found myself able to look around unafraid,
And see the grandeur the Lord God had made.
The red canyon walls met with robin blue sky.
Reminded me of temples with spires rising high.

Bent evergreens fashioned by harsh rain and wind,
Held defiantly steadfast, their place to defend.
Brice Canyon in Utah is a breathtaking place,
With fond memories that time can never erase
