Kite
Submitted by: marvelis
Author: Elisabeth Komae Li
Wind took that kite and raced with it
spinning it into the cerulean sky.
They raced back and forth excitedly
pointing up at that brown paper bag
the simple construction seeming to defy the heights it had attained.
The wind cursed and tugged at the line
now lengthened by the combined yardage of all three of them
linking them together in a moment of blue-streaked brilliance.
The rest of them stood and murmured to themselves with awed faces.
The three were oblivious
eyes locked on the tiny brown scrap soaring madly beyond the clouds.
