I took these pictures yesterday - these are a few of my favorites. We have quite a population of Bald Eagles here in Iowa, especially when they migrate south for the winter.

Journaling Reads:
Eagle Facts:
Bald Eagles mate for life.
They will lay 2-3 eggs and the
young will be fully feathered, almost
adult size, and can leave the nest at
10-12 weeks. The largest eagle nest was 20
feet deep, 10 feet wide, and weighed 2 tons.
The young are almost solid brown and develop
the white head and tail feathers when they are
4-5 years old. At maturity, they are 3-3 1/2 feet
tall, weigh 8-15 pounds and have up to a 7 1/2 foot
wing span. A Bald Eagle flies 50-60 mph in normal
flight and dive at more than 100 mph.
In the wild they will live up to 30 years.
