Description: Bling/Creative Journaling/Innovative Design Challenges

The picture is of me shopping in Chinatown San Francisco. I tried to use papers and elements that had an Asian feel...I think I accomplished it! :)

The background paper is My Mind's Eye (Out & About - Medallion Paper. The large flower is My Mind's Eye (Out & About - No. 1 Ornamental). The side floral strip and fan are My Mind's Eye (Out & About - Orange Flowers Paper)...all the same line for some consistancy. The glitter strip down the side and pleated behind the chipboard frame is Making Memories - Chelsea's Place. The fortune cookies and scroll are The Paper Company - Kraft. The cherry blossom branches are The Paper Company - Brown Mulberry. The green leaves on the cherry blossom branches are Bazzill. The chipboard frame is Colorbok. The fortune cookie paper is The Paper Company - Metallic Gold. The cherry blossom flowers are Making Memories pink flower brads, highlighted with light pink, green acrylic paint center and clear stickles. The chipboard frame was painted metallic halo pink, sanded, stenciled/masked with dark red acrylic paint, sanded, inked, sanded, highlighted with light pink/gold/brown acrylic paint and loose gems applied. The word Chinatown was traced on, painted with brown acrylic paint, pierced then stitched with sage green embroidery floss. The fan was folded, inked then the burnt orange embroidery floss was attached. The scroll is kraft paper attached to painted and inked wooden skewers, journaling written, inked with brown and red then rolled up and tan/brown ribbon scrap attached and tied. The flourishes were drawn on, pierced then stitched with pink/dark red/burnt orange embroidery floss. The large flower, side strips and fortune cookies were inked with brown.

I think that's it...this took me 4 evenings to complete! LOL

Thanks for taking a look! :)

Scroll opens and journaling reads: April 20, 2008 - Shopping in Chinatown for warmer clothing for our Alcatraz trip on April 21st. It didn't help! It was ridiculously cold!

WOW. Great detail, all of the typical symbols of Chinatown without the cheesy touristy element. Nice job.
