You did a great job! You made an un-embellished LO look pretty darn embellished to me! I think that you did a great job! The only thing I would change is mat the strips. I love this!
i absolutely love the heart! it looks so great! Love the doodles around the heart. I do think the white is a little too white, maybe some ink (since i'ts allowed!) other than that, love the red mat. looks great
I think you did very well on the challenge. The woven work is superb! I also like your little flourish doodles. I'm with Mel, on inking the white journaling strips, but not the photo corners. I think it'll help detract from the cuts not being so straight. Your mom's name strip needs a little trim so that it's not crowding the bottom tip of the heart. And, for spacing purposes, I'd push up the strips that begin, "A mother's love..."
Love the weaving, I think the idea of it works well with the vintage photograph. 2 things - the edges of the page feel empty to me, but I'm not sure why; and in your description it says 1956 but the journaling says 1957 - that threw me for an anal-retentive loop lol.
Love this heart! Again love the black & white with the red...this is very pleasing to my eye. You did a great job on the doodles to give it just the right touch.
Oh, and a little ink around them wouldn't have hurt either, to kind of tie in that vintage-y/rustic look and theme of the photo. Two more cents so I guess it's actually four cents...
That picture of your mom is awesome! What a neat thing to have! And, of course, your woven heart is just adorable. Very creative way to get around the lack of "embellishment", although that heart is as good as, if not better, than any store-bought embellishment in my opinion. The only thing I may have done a little differently on this one would have been to actually mat your journaling squares, maybe in pink, just for a little umph. That's my two cents!!
I did this LO for a challenge to use NO embellishments of any kind -- paper, pen, scissors only. This is a photo of my mother from 1956, dressed up to celebrate Bristol's centennial. 8x8, pp woven and cut into a heart shape, white gel pen, journaling on the computer (Amaze font).
