Late to the party, but I am on board with sneaking in some journaling. And I like the idea of another gold line to mimic the one in the title.

ehhhhh, if her husband is big on simple, then I am big on this is just fine. Maybe a little doodle around the pic or in the corners of the mat, but otherwise, I'm good. Very nice.

...or, why not take a gold pen and draw a line around the outside of the green PP mat?

I agree the red mat needs to be a little smaller on the sides. Another thing I would do is get a really thin gold pen and draw a line around the edges inside that red mat. Have it mimic the "Family Tradition" box.

I like the idea of the hidden journalling. I would also add some photo corners in white or green.

love how the pp in the back is going the opposite of the mat. I agree with doing some hidden journaling, just telling what the tradition is..

You can mat the photo only with the red cs and put the title under it. May be you can add some journaling too.

This layout leaves me with questions....who the people are and what the traditions are. It's a family gift but I think even a hidden journal element behind the photo would give future generations something to know about these people.
