Hi Lindsey, did you ever consider hanging a large, pretty tablecloth, bulletin board or fabric on your walls? I'm sure there are ways to do it even though you're dealing with concrete block. I'd check with someone at Home Depot or Lowe's. Tell them what you want to do and they'll help you with how to do it. Just a thought....

You need more light and some versatile storage. I suggest shelving and storage cubes painted white. No need to do all the same white, integrate some cream and taupe, as this is a creative space. I used some wall units and bought thin plywood, cut it down to fit in my wall unit, added a trim piece to hold the paper at the lip, then inserted them at an angle to hold my 12” x 12” paper. I also used wire wall mounted 3 level file holders, angled to fit, to sort my colorful, solid papers. I sat those on a shelf that is only 9” deep. I love being able to see the color array. If not carpeted, I’d get a white tinted concrete sealer to “paint” the floor with. It will help with any moisture problems that may arise. I keep the desiccant packs from various buys, to add to moisture prone areas. You can add throw rugs for seasonal and fashionable trend changes. Lighting is always tricky. I have a dozen different lamps and natural light. Every lightbulb lights differently. Don’t go overboard on one kind of lighting. Find different lamps and lightbulbs for different uses. I love the thrift store for lamps, and have a few special ones from Ottlight, for meticulous work. Pegboard is a great hanging syastem, but can get overwhelmed quickly. I refurbished a large thrift store frame with bating and burlap, got out the drape hooks and used them to hang bead tubes. I also ran some twine to make a “clothesline” photo holder, to stare at as I’m trying to plan the future projects. Art bin has some good specialty boxes, but I have a half dozen clear Plano tackle boxes holding much of my paint pots, embellishments, micas, inks and empherma. They sit on a 9” wide shelf of the shelving unit. I also utilized an old trunk to hold my patterned paper. The desiccant packs keep the material from getting moist inside. I am looking at your walls and ask my husband and it seems that you can anchor to those walls boards I will suggest peg-boards and that will give you the flexibility of hanging what ever you want and all over the wall, also you can painted a nice color you know make it pretty. If you go to hardware store they can tell you how to do it, Hubby gave me a class.

First thing I would do is paint the walls white or some light color to brighten the space. After that get rid of what you don't use (not easy) and then organize. Good Luck and let us see when finished.

I’m in the basement also, I have one wall that is Sheetrock, but the rest is concrete, what I did is us shelves on one wall and put my tables in the middle, and then had my husand hang a storage cabinet on the concrete wall, it can be done. I will take pictures an upload as my area also has the furance and hot water tank, and Christmas storage also.
