SHCG: You watch bollywood, so do I!! Hahahah ok now for the laout I love how the pink picks up off of Deepika's dress. I also really like the rose leaves...how will those look after theyre dry,won't they start to crumble, m curious to know if you have some tricks to keep tem looking that way.

SHCG: Just stopping by for a hot minute to let you know I'm thinking on this one, particularly placement, and I'll be back when I can commit to my suggestions. Cool to see your response to your own challenge. ETA: I'm really still having a tough time trying to give you a solid suggestion on placement, so let me just explain why. Your leaves form a visual triangle that have me zeroing in on only your crayon work which is, while cool and unique, not what this page is ultimately about. The banner is such a cute way to include your journaling. I can actually see the pink as being more of a shadow, and then the triangles alternating between green and white, just to add dimension to this piece and to distinguish one jotted note from the next. That Carousel cart is so cute, but I'm doing a good job of not adding it to my library for just that reason alone. I really like the font you used for the 5 (which of the 3 carts is that from? couldn't figure it out from my search). I also like your subtle way of including your age. I really need to get on this challenge.

SHCG: Great page in response to your challenge...I love that you break out of the mold and try totally different techniques with your pages, including the crayon background. I would like to see some darker colored crayons in the background to really make your hard work pop out. I also think adding something around the edge of the entire page would tie everything together. I love all of your different pieces on this page and once again think your creativity is awesome and different from so many others!

SHCG: This is a fantastic response to your challenge. I love how it all ties together. The use of so many elements is so you. Your drawing is awesome. I love hou you used the banner but wish it were a tad larger. I really like the leaves and understand that what is shown on the site is not always true to how it appears in person. The ticket stub is a great addition. The collage of photos is great.

SHCG - This is a groovy response to your own challenge, Brian. Love all elements that come together to memorialize this year's birthday for you - the collage photo, the awesome banner w/ all the stuff you did, crayon, the leaves, thylacine & the ticket stub! I like how the crayon, pink & leaves unify all these different visuals. Agree w/ Jesse/you re: adding an apostrophe/"20" in front of the year. Also agree w/ Chris re: how neato it is you incorporated your age. My one critique is that I wish your little last airbender was a tad smaller...as a figure, he seems to steal focus for me from your awesome collage photo & the other fab stuff. I like the thylacine the size it is though, because it's more of a natural image (IMO), & it is NOT a horrible drawing, it's quite cool! Plus it got me Googling "thylacine", LOL. Looks like you had an excellent day! (you got bday wishes in the thread that week, hope you saw 'em...)

Good point about the year. I think I'll just add the 20 to the front of it. I cut the whole thing out, but haven't got a clue why I didn't use the whole thing. I see where you are coming from with the leaf problem, Chris. They aren't nearly so dark in reality and are closer in value to the reds I used. I felt like it was too "plastic" without something natural going on... they may seem a little out there, but they are meant to represent growth (as well as helping keep everything connected). There may be a way to help them blend in more. I'll think on it.

SHCG: I like how you included details about the day... especially the drawing of the animal from your book. It's easy to forget the little things like that. :) The crayon bg is great too! I would suggest adding an apostrophe before the 10. At first glance, I wondered what the 10 was for, and I think it's for 2010 right? I think having an apostrophe would make it more clear that it's the year. Your flags are really cool, and I could see them bigger. Super LO!!

shcg: i like the crayon-created background, esp. how you hid your age into it at the bottom. great job trying new things. i'm not sure my feelings on the leaves - they seem quite bold in comparison with the remaining colors...and out of place. great job on your challenge!
