If you still have some of the swirley paper, how about cutting some of the swirls and adding them into the yellow, this will help link the LO & paper, otherwise can you draw some doodles in a glitter glue.

I agree with CGMoom, I would like to see something tie the yellow and the pp together. Perhaps you can cut some leaf shapes from the pp and add onto the yellow paper or some buttons that match the pp. Or add some jounaling onto the yellow paper to break up the yellow a bit.

Being as this is all about reading, could you maybe cut a couple of books out of the yellow cardstock (title them) and glue them onto the pretty background paper? Love that background paper!

I love the background PP, but I think the yellow cardstock is throwing it all off, since there is no yellow in the background paper. Otherwise, it looks great!!! I love the photo corners too!
