Canvas square, I edge with some sheer ribbon using my sewing machine, then folded (and ironed for crispness) into a cup shape, then tacked in some ribbon ends for the strap, and made a buttonhole in the top flap and used an old cover-your-own button as the button to hold it shut - the stitching to hold the button on is the only place the origami purse is sewn to hold its shape.
