Wow! This is such a beautiful LO in so many ways! The journaling is so powerful and I love how you did it as well. TFS, it couldn't have been easy to do.
Oh. my. Brenda, I want a hug. I love this. Love isn't a strong enough word. I think this layout is amazingly awesome. The colors are perfect for the subject and I adore how you used paint to journal upon. Extremely edgy and apropos. However, you distorted the pictures, it perfectly complements the subject matter and theme. I love this and it makes me love you even more.
Wow. I am feeling you so much. The journaling on paint strips fits so much with this layout and the message is great. I love the edgy feel and the red accents. Katie would love this layout!
Well done brenda, that cant have been an easy layout. The style suits it down to the ground and all the little things, how the journalings done, the staples at the top, dividing the page, make it look amazing. You've done a really great job.
OMG we have a talented group! Bren I love this!!! Edgy it is and it says sooo much! I can identify with your journaling on a personal leveland I love the way your brought it to the page. Definatly has theat "teen" feel, added to my favs!
I like the starkness you went with on this, the light and dark, black and white, both in your writing and in the visuals, to me a representation of how it seems you may have seen things back as the person you are writing to. I also love the switch in perspective, the glance into where you really are now. Very nice.
I love the edginess here Brenda, the journaling & how it's on paint lines & in random pockets, the ankh, the starkness of the b&w palette. The swirly title font is perfect - such a contrast to your strong, in-your-face words to yourself, yet w/ a hint of the girl that you are/were. Quite like the page itself...very cool how it is overall "tough" feeling w/ traces of vulnerability. Nice work!
Brenda, this is so great. I'm really glad you did decide to do this. I think, in time, you will be too. I love all of the paint and the artsy feel to it.. the black cardstock to go along with how you were feeling. All of the emotion and feelings you wrote.. it is fantastic. And, even including that necklace.. sort of leaving it with your childhood. Love it all.
This is for the SHCG Week #37 WC which was to create a lo that included a note to my younger self, giving advice with the knowledge I now possess. As a result, I wrote to my self as a junior in high school. "Not like you're gonna listen, but I wish I could get you to STOP. Stop everything! Stop worrying. Stop being so depressed. Stop hating yourself. Stop putting up walls. Stop being so promiscuous. Stop being so contradictory. You'll realize how beautiful you were in your youth. You'll lament not having taken the time to foster long-lasting friendships who you could turn to in adulthood. You'll meet the love of your life soon enough, and you'll wish you were a worthy and better woman. You wore the ankh--a symbol of life and death. You'll sadly learn how short life truly is... and you'll learn to enjoy it. (Get your head out of the clouds. Face reality. Live life! There is no cure for your disease.)
