Today Tim started Chemotherapy. About 4.5 weeks ago he was diagnosed with rectal cancer and also a PET scan showed some nodules in his lungs. First we were all set for Radiation to have that all changed by the Chemotherapy oncologist who is very concerned about the nodules on his lungs. He stated that rectal cancer can circumvent the liver and go into the lungs. Other than it being long today it seemed to go quite well. During the teaching part of the Chemo the nurse mentioned that he'd be on Chemo for 6 mos. We however, never heard that. We also let her know that he is pre-op not post-op. So that may change things. What Tim was told was that he'd get chemo for 1-48 hr period for two weeks and then in 2 weeks get another. Nothing further was mentioned. I would imagine they will check him out in a month and see if he can switch to radiation. I surely hope he doesn't have to put off the surgery too much longer.

 
I've been reading your blogs. So sorry that you and Tim are going through all of this. I hope that the hospital has their act together more than what you describe. It must be frustrating dealing with them, but good for you for staying on top of things. I wish Tim a speedy recovery and hope that his chemo/radiation sessions go smoothly, quickly, and with few side affects. Take care!

I am so sorry to hear about the treatment. I will put Tim and you both on my prayer list. I pray they do the right thing and get him back to a healthy state. You take care of you too....you need to be strong for him. love to you both.
