July 15 Roundup   (1 comment, 42 views) Saturday, 15 July 2006

It has been *forever*.  Life got in the way.  Family issues, general busy-ness, end of the school year, and then vacation and I find myself away from my scrapping desk for 3 months.  3 months!  I can't believe it.  But I hope that I am back now.  And a 3 month hiatus is better than the nearly two year hiatus I took last time I stopped  scrapping.

So, my layouts since the last roundup... (all of these, save the last, were done before my hiatus).

1. Anatomy of a Snowman. I had a lot of fun with this one.  It was a takeoff on an ad challenge somewhere on the scrapbook.com website. I used my own handwriting which I think is a nice touch and something that I want to do more of.

2. Little DRAGON. Purple and green.  Need I say more?

3. sick season. One of my favorites of all time.  My favorite kind of colors - muted jeweltones (there's probably some sort of official name but colors like the ones in my avatar and on my myplace).  Metal.  Ribbons.  Lots of texture.

4. Cheaper than Therapy. I used chipboard to make the title which was a first for me - adhered PP to the chipboard and then inked the PP.  This title makes me laugh (in a sad way I guess) given that I did it right before it became clear to me that while I had fared quite well through my usual down time of the year, my daughter had not and was going to need some help getting back to her usual sunny self.

5. Requirement 4G. Another cub scout layout.  Nothinig that special about the layout but I just love one of the photos that DH took of the boys at the anchor desk, their faces reflected on the very shiny desk.

6. Baby party invites and favors.  I did 16 handmade invitations for a baby party that I co-hosted.  And altered a case of candybars and a case of mentos to distribute as favors.

7. Daisy Girl Scout scrapbooks.  I did a scrapbook for each of the 8 girls in our troop.  Each book was about 20 pages long and had a lot of photos in it.  I kept it very simple with printed titles and journaling and simple matting for the photos but it was still quite time-consuming.  The girls' families just loved them.  The feedback certainly made the effort worth it.

8. let's go make some CAKE.  My first layout in over 3 months. I like it.  Nothing special.  Nice colors.

So.... I'll see how things go.  I hope to scrap regularly but I don't think I can go back to a layout a day until school is in session for the fall.

Oh... progress towards goal.  Forgot that I used to put that in the round up.  I did something like 80 layouts for the Daisy scrapbooks but they were simple and repetitive across the 8 albums so I counted them as 20.  I didn't give myself any 'credit' for the altered favors.   Accounting like that, I'm at 90.5 layouts for the year.  That's 38% of the way to the goal.  *Definitely* off my pace but I just can't let that get me down. This is supposed to be a creative pursuit that brings me joy and relaxation.  I refuse to stress over it.

WOW! YOU ARE AMBITIOUS DOING THE DAISY SCRAPBOOKS! I HAD 20 JUNIOR SCOUTS, AND THEY EACH MADE THEIR OWN PAGE! NO WAY COULD I HAVE DONE WHAT YOU DID! ;-)
