My Little Muffin Is Here! It's A Boy!   (4 comments, 88 views) Saturday, 02 December 2006
Exciting news to report...I had my baby on November 22!

I could go into terrible detail, but why? I'll just give you the "need to know" information.

So I put my son down for a nap on the 22nd around 3:30. I followed him in my own bed with a nap as well. I hadn't been feeling well all day. I could barely walk around, felt light headed, and had lost more of my mucous plug that morning. Remember I lost some the morning before. Anyway, around 5:30 I woke up. I turned over on my side around 5:45 and felt a very sharp jab on the right side of my abdomen. I had never felt this kind of pain with pregnancy before, so it freaked me out. About 5 seconds later, here came another jab and with that, I felt my water start to leak out. I got out of bed and when I stood up, it just gooshed out. I called my husband, and he rushed home. I called my doctor and he met me at the hospital about an hour later.

So, before I left the house, I took a shower, washed and curled my hair and I already had my suitcase packed, so I was ready to go! Contractions started about an hour after my water broke. They got really bad the longer I was in labor.

We called our families and they all met us at the hospital. I went in for the c-section shortly after arriving, and had my baby boy at 9:31 PM on November 22. He weighed 7 lbs. 4 ozs and was 19 inches long. His name is Brayden Gerald and he has brown hair and blue eyes.

I stayed in the hospital Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and went home Saturday night. He is a great little nurser and has the cutest raspy cry. My 2 1/2 year old seems to be really warming up to him so far. He kisses him and comes in my room first thing in the morning saying over and over, "The baby! The baby!"

I feel so happy and blessed to have had a wonderful doctor who got me through the surgery 100 times better than my first c-section. If my first surgery had been anything like this one, I would have never been so scared to have another c-section. What a difference a doctor makes. Not only him, but the rest of the surgery team. My hospital stay was wonderful, the staff was wonderful and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience.

I was supposed to have the baby on November 29 with a scheduled c-section, but he decided to come a week early, and on the very day I was 38 weeks pregnant!

It stunk being in the hospital for Thanksgiving, but that was better than when I had my appendix out on Christmas Eve and spent that holiday in the hospital. I guess I like to have surgery on holidays!

I will post pictures later. I think my Lortab is starting to kick in. The screen is getting funky looking here. Ah, pain meds.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! What a wonderful christmas present!
