Roseola   (9 comments, 57 views) Wednesday, 21 May 2008

I have never heard of Roseola but grandson has a case of it.

He ran a fever of 105.0 at the ER last night then developed a rash all over his little body. Poor little fellow was stuck 6 times trying to draw blood. We were told at the ER he had a virus. He was given Rochepin which does NOTHING for a virus!

He did not sleep much last night and ran a fever even with tylenol and IBU.

I took him to peds today and the doctor said Braydon has the Roseloa virus and proceeded to ask me why he was given Rochepin. . What do I look like, a doctor? Then the doctor turns around and orders another Rochepin shot for Braydon. WTH!!!!

When someone takes alot of antibiotics and does not need it, what will eventually happen is when they do have a bad infection and need it then the antibiotics will not be able to fight the invaders!

I asked the doctor why he was ordering it then since Braydon has "virus" Doc said he had to give it since Braydon was given it in the ER. BOLOGNA!   He then said he had to order the shot because he was waiting on blood culture from the ER visit to rule out a bacterial infection in Braydon's blood.

I THINK IT IS TIME TO FIND A NEW DOCTOR!

Now Braydon has diarrhea! Constantly sick! Time to change another runny diaper.    Bye!

Oh man that's nuts. The WebMd article I found says it will go away on it's own. I'd find a new Dr. Here's the article. I hope he feels better soon!!!

Wow I hope he is feeling better soon! I love how the doctor gives you crap for giving him something and then gives it to him again, I think most of the time they are grasping at straws.

I remember when my oldest had Roseola, WE FREAKED but when we got to the peds it wasnt a big deal. We werent prescribed anything at all and were told to just let it run its course. She never really got "sick" just a fever then BAM a wierd rash, I do recall some runny diapers but she never "acted" sick at all. I hope things get better for the little guy

Yep, Roseola was the virus of the year this spring. I think all 24 of my preschoolers had it at least once, as well as most of the rest of the 200+ kids at our school. My own kids had it too - including my 14-yr-old.
