Celebrating the Connected Life   (14 comments, 277 views) Saturday, 05 May 2007

"A bird does not sing because he has an answer, he sings because he has a song." Joan Walsh Anglund

I wake up early this morning to the revelry of birds celebrating spring; our neighborhood is alive with their choruses.  We have a father quail that performs like a talented contestant on American Idol every morning on our chimney top. We affectionately refer to him as "Rooster".  I walk outside to greet him and the day.

Breathing the cool morning air feeds my brain cells and I’m aware that I’m feeling a host of emotions. I pause for a moment to connect my head and my heart and am overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude. I feel gratitude when I think of my connected life and how scrapbooking provides many of those connections. Let me share how:

1) I am connected to strong women and men. Scrapbooking is a connector between me and my ancestors. Through it, I’m also able to see more clearly the cherished connections between family and friends now living.

2) I am connected to my creative potential through scrapbooking products, skills and techniques.

3) I am connected to the world of technology. I don’t think I would have ever had  the motivation to be proficient at the computer had there not been a Scrapbook.com. Because of it I must communicate with people around the world, download programs and files to scrapbook better, and upload content to the site.

4) I am connected to the beauty in people, and the light within and around them because I see them through the defining lens of a camera.

5) I am connected to the business world (which I never dreamed possible) because of my passion for scrapbooking and what happens because of our decisions at Scrapbook.com.

6) I am connected to beautiful mankind all around our glorious globe through Scrapbook.com, ScrapJazz.com and ComputerScrapbook.com.

7) I am connected to brilliant and talented people who are family, staff and Friends here at Scrapbook.com.

8) I am connected to stimulating ideas, techniques and information about a life-style we all love; twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

I could go on and on but my point is that we each have a Connected Life which is worth living and celebrating.  You are all an important part of my connected life, and I’m grateful for you.

I’m off to check on the mother quail and her 17 quail eggs who occupy a huge flower pot on our front porch. I’ll be with you throughout the day, celebrating our Connected Life here at Scrapbook.com.

Happy “International” Scrapbook Day from me, my family and the staff at Scrapbook.com.

Well said Jill! We ARE all connected in many ways! Now, SERIOUSLY? You have a quail nest on your front porch with SEVENTEEN eggs in it? Geeeeeeesh and I thought my Robin's nest was a big deal! LOL
5-May-2007 @ 10:52:24pm

Ahhhh, Robin eggs are my favorite!! I'd love to see them--it's rare to see a Robin is AZ.

My DH came in the house a week after Easter and said that our little granddaughters hadn't found some eggs hidden in the flower pot. My first thought when I saw them was that the malted eggs had mud splattered all over them. Then I remembered, we hadn't hidden any malted eggs. LOL

The largest quail family I've seen around the neighborhood was 14, so I'm excited to see if this big brood will make it.
