What do you give the grandpa who seems to have everything? How about surprising him with a one-of-a-kind magnetic photo frame that includes photos of his favorite grandkids? He'll treasure the gift for years, I assure you. First, he'll love it because it was made by you. Second, he'll have a photo album (yes, there's one included) that serves as his very own, "We Love Our Grandpa" Brag Book. And finally, he'll look forward to the photos you give him from time to time that will update his album and frame. And the best part? You'll be free of the guess work for his gifts for awhile.
This magnetic photo frame/mini album holder contains more pictures than you see. Look closely where the picture would regularly go in the Bazzill Magnetic Photo Frame below. Do you see the brown mini album tucked inside that space? Counting the photos inside the mini album and those attached with magnets to the frame there are 20 photos. You can add more photos to the album and the frame.

Here's how to make this fun project:
1) Paint the entire surface of a Bazzill Basics Large Magnetic Photo Frame – 4 x 6 – White (front, back, easel-stand and anchor ribbon) with acrylic paint. Distress it with ink and doodle on the edges of the frame with a white pen. Spray with clear acrylic sealant.

2) Using the Crate Paper "Hampton" Collection Kit , decorate the frame with the kit elements or paper strips you cut yourself. Attach the papers using a strong/tacky adhesive like Xyron Adhesive or Tacky Tape that comes in sheet or tape form. Seal the paper with a few thin coats of Mod Podge. When dry, spray with clear acrylic sealant.

3) Be sure to save the coversheet of the Crate Paper pack . Cut out the paper sample squares from the sheet and glue onto Chipboard Squares then glue a photo to each covered square. Add powerful magnets to the backs of the photo mats. Mod Podge and acrylic spray seal these pieces too.

4) The 4 x 6 SEI Preservation Series Album cover can be cut with a paper trimmer. Trim it to fit inside the picture frame opening; then trim the page protectors to fit inside the album. Once the page protectors are trimmed and holes punched on the end that is open, you'll slip into the protectors photos mounted on patterned paper. They will then be secured into the album with the fastener (the same way they were before you trimmed the album). Note: You will have to disassemble the album every time you want to change photos because of the way the page protectors have to be cut. (The three edges that aren't open are those that are exposed, unlike traditional page prodectors).

Note: If you add a wordstrip to the album be sure to place the album in the frame with the head band piece in place where it will rest. This way you'll be able to see where you should place words on the album so they aren't covered up with the band.

5) Put a piece of patterned paper into the back opening of the frame where a photo would otherwise be placed. You can add a title like, "We Love Our Grandpa," a quote, another photo or leave the pattered paper just as it is. Glue a "G" chipboard letter onto a stretchy head band (found at WalMart or Target) using Crafter's Pick - The Ultimate. This band will hold your mini photo album securely onto the frame.

Slip your album into it's place on the frame, add the photo magnets and stand back and admire your masterpiece. Won't this memory-filled frame look fantastic on your favorite grandpa's desk, den shelf or nightstand?
