Altered Clocks Make Great Holiday Gifts (Challenge Included)   (58 comments, 889 views) Tuesday, 13 November 2007

I've been busy getting a head-start on my Christmas gifts this year. I had so much fun making these altered clocks and they're so easy to do!

I'd like to challenge you to make an altered clock for someone special this year! All you have to do is this:

1. Get a clock and a clock face
2. Alter it any way you want (with or without photos is fine)
3. Upload it to your gallery here at Scrapbook.com
4. Paste a link here in the comments section of this blog

I will award 20 - THAT'S RIGHT - 20 lucky, random winners who've completed all the steps above, and each winner will receive an AWESOME prize pack!

In order to be eligible to win, you must complete, upload, and link your altered clock here by December 15, 2007 at midnight PST!

Please click on any clock image for a larger view and a complete supply list.

17-Nov-2007 @ 7:33:00pm

Those are wonderful. I've been wanting to personal make me one of these for awhile now. They would make great gifts though. :) BTW, does anyone know where any instructions for these would be located? I hate to screw something up, LOL.
18-Nov-2007 @ 8:02:15pm

Gina, there are instructions included on the box that the clock comes in.

My best advice, Create a 12x12 layout using the clock face as a "guide" for the layout, cluster most things near the 12, 3, 6, and 9 hours...once your layout is complete and you've placed the clock face over the layout, trace around the outside edge of the clock face and along the inside edge where the clock hands are.

Xacto knife around the center hole and trim right along the pencil line you traced on the outside. This should give you a perfect fit!

I used mini glue dots to adhere the clock face, by placing the glue dot under the most inconspicuous part of the 12, 3, 6 and 9. I used a tape runner to adhere the layout to the clock so it wouldn't shift at all once put together.

Hope this helps!

I want to alter a clock for a gift. Where do you get the clock? Is it just a clock you buy and take apart or is it a kit? If it's a kit, where do you get it?
13-Dec-2007 @ 7:53:45am

Here is mine, it doesnt look as great as yours. I think I'll try to make these throughout 08 for christmas gifts.
