Today I cried!!
I really did!!! I am walking for Autism Speaks in Cleveland in September and I got some donations today! It really touched me heart in a way I can't explain. For a scrapper I don't know very well to donate to my walk has truly touched me heart. I am always amazed at the ability for one person to touch another person, and this is just one more example of that. Seriously in tears just thinking of it....
This walk means so much to me. It is about something I see every single day of my life. It is something I see when I bring Sean to his speech class with the other children with Autism. It is when I talk to other parents who are facing the same problems as we are. It is when Sean had a break through and is able to express himself in a new way. When I get pms from people I don't know who are asking me if they should get their child tested.
This walk is about spreading the word for Early detection. For awareness in classrooms and outside of school where the kids and adults with Autism can be understood better by their peers and not made fun of. It is about finding out what is causing this and finding a possible cure. It is about changing health care so children with Autism don't just get 20 visits a year to be split up between speech AND occupational therapy a year .. and that is it! It is about reaching these children through early intervention when kids can be reached the easiest. Those are just a few of the reasons we are walking this fall! :D
